Oddo Brothers, CPAs

Accounting and Tax Services

About Us

We are a small, but growing firm serving the South Metro Atlanta area from our Fayetteville, Georgia office since 1979. Because of our high client retention rate, many of our clients are located outside of the area, so distance is not a problem.

We strive to provide quality services at reasonable prices.

We specialize in providing year-round services to small businesses.

Our rates range from $65-$125 per hour.

HOW ARE WE DIFFERENT?

FOCUSED SERVICES AND STRATEGIES

We don't try to be all things to all people.  There are certain "essential" tasks that every business needs in order to prosper.  Neglect any of them and the business is affected negatively.  We focus on specific types of clients (see below) needing specific essential tasks.

Focusing on certain clients and tasks allows us to apply certain strategies that fit well.

COMPATIBILITY

If your needs are outside the scope of services that we provide, we will let you know.  That is why it is important that we discuss compatibility with prospective clients before we actually provide services.  This helps keep our "divorce rate" very low.

In order to determine compatibility, we need to meet with the prospective client and discuss their needs to make sure the services we provide can meet those needs.

Our typical client is:

.....A small business such as S corporation, C corporation, Partnership, LLC, proprietorship (usually S corporation)

.....Service type of business (attorney, electrician, welder) with little or no inventory.

.....With only a few shareholders / owners (usually husband and wife)

.....With a few employees and/or contract laborers

.....Uses QuickBooks software to maintain their general ledger

.....Able to use email and remote access (we can set this up for you).

STANDARDIZED PROCEDURES

Our staff uses internally created standardized procedures applied in checklist form.  They were created based on our many years of experience and constant training.

This ensures that knowledge that comes from experience will be applied to every client even by the newest members of our staff.

TEAM EFFORT

Although one staff person is generally in charge of your account, the standardized procedures allow us to work as a TEAM.  If the lead staff person needs assistance, another staff person can help.  Additionally, and this is VERY important, one person does the work and another person reviews the work.  If your current CPA doesn't have a review process, you may get a slightly lower bill, but you'll never know what tax savings may have been missed.

RESULTS

BASED ON ACTUAL SITUATIONS

#1 - $2500 SAVED PER YEAR!!

Here are some facts regarding the client and the client's accounting and tax situation at the time we started providing services to the client:

BUSINESS:  S corporation

SHAREHOLDERS: Husband and Wife

SALES: $100,000+

PROFIT before wages: $58,000

After discussing a strategy with the client, we were able to reduce the client's tax liability by about $2500 per year!!  For years they were paying too much.

The client was both happy and dissapointed.  The dissapointment was expressed in the following statement:  "I should have come to you 10 years ago...."

 #2 - OVERALL FEDERAL/STATE TAX CONSIDERATION

This situation is quite common.  By making a certain election on your federal return, your federal tax liability INCREASES but your State tax liability DECREASES.  Often times, the decreased State tax more than offsets the increased federal taxes.  The usual savings is around $250.

Bio of the founder:

PAUL C. ODDO, JR., CPA

Paul graduated from Georgia State University in June, 1973 with a BBA (cum laude) in accounting. His professional training came over the next six years working with the international CPA firms of Price Waterhouse (now PriceWaterhouseCoopers) and then Mann Judd Landau. It was at these firms that Paul obtained his experience in auditing. Paul established the CPA firm of Paul C. Oddo, Jr., P.C. (now known as Oddo Brothers, CPAs) July 1979, for the purpose of providing individualized accounting services to the Fayette County and Greater Atlanta Area.

Paul's experience in public accounting includes everything from income taxes, to monthly accounting, to auditing financial statements. His audit experience ranges from advertising agencies and textile manufacturers to building materials companies and banks.

From January 1994, through August 1996, Paul wrote and "starred" in 540 60-second radio programs known as "Tax World." The program, which aired twice daily on WMKJ 96.7fm in Newnan, Georgia, covered a wide range of tax topics. The idea was to inform the public about the wide world of taxes in an entertaining sort of way. As the program's promos said, "You never knew taxes could be so much fun!"

Paul's CPA firm is enrolled in the Georgia Society of CPAs practice monitoring program. And Paul completed the sixteen hour course "How to Conduct a Quality Review" which was offered by the Georgia Society of CPAs. Subsequent to that class and the Firm's enrollment, the Firm passed its Quality Reviews in 1991, 1994, 1997, 2000, 2003 and 2006. (Quality Reviews are performed in three-year cycles.)
